Strings
H.O.D. (violin)– Peter Vetro & H.O.D. (guitar)– Sam Hofmeester
A variety of chords, scales and techniques are taught from beginner to advanced classes. All students are encouraged to join the Violin String Orchestra and the Big Band.
Piano
H.O.D. – Conrad van Breda
Piano includes teaching of scales, chords, sight-reading, notation, fingering and skills in preparation for exams.
Brass
H.O.D. – Melanie Fryer
This includes the trumpet, trombone, oboe, euphonium and tuba. Our one-on-one lesson is a very productive way of teaching and has proven to yield the best results. Students progress to join the Big Band Orchestra.
Percussion
H.O.D. – Gemayal Krouwkamp
A variety of rhythm techniques are taught from beginner to advanced classes. The theory of music is also taught to enable students to read sheet music.
Woodwind
H.O.D. – Tracy Nicholas
Includes the flute, clarinet and saxophone. The curriculum, as in all sections, is strictly adhered to.
Jazz Band
H.O.D. – Dayna Pearce
Students who show or have a keen interest in Jazz music are encouraged to join the band.
Vocal Training
Godfrey Rahube
Vocal and breathing exercises are taught, including categories of classical, jazz and contemporary pop music. Students and parents form part of the Academy’s choir.
Orchestra Conductor -Warren Patentia
All students who are able to read music are encouraged to form part of the orchestra. A strict code of discipline is adhered to.
